Can you discredit "wait on jehovah to fix all evil" elder's padded line even told to victims of pedophiles?
by PokerPlayerPhil ini am sick of being told this same crap after decades of suffering at the hands of wicked men and women, how many of you have had to fight these irrational expectations we are supposed to grin and smile when people are actively trying to screw with us and elders say .
good it is that one should wait, even silently, for the salvation of jehovah (lamentations 3:26; titus 2:13).
my life in the organization has not been entirely bad, there were many good people and plenty of jerks like you all experienced in this adventure we call life.

James 4:17"....if one knows how to do what is right and yet does not do it, it is a sin for him". Jehovah is thus condemned by is own word. He (supposedly) knows what is right, has the power to do what is right, and yet does not do it....at least hasn't done it since Adam and Eve screwed up (if you believe all that). Any way I look at it, The Supreme being is condemned by these words from (supposedly) his own word. -

Attend the meeting with your attorney....use your 1st amendment rights; threaten a lawsuit....tell 'em call the Borg, 'cause they won't have a clue what to do. The Borg will tell 'em drop the case....there's already enough lawsuits going on. Done! It may cost you a few bucks but you'll have peace of mind and they'll never want to see you again. -

Why a JC if the adulterous mate is forgiven?
by snugglebunny insupposing a man's wife has had an affair, confessed all and genuinely regrets what's happened.
the husband, after much soul searching and agonising, realises how much he still loves her and how much both of them want to rebuild their shattered relationship.. why should that woman then have to sit in front of a judicial men-only committee and give a blow-by-blow account of her affair?.
how would that make her husband feel, knowing that his wife is sharing intensely private stuff about her affair with several other guys?.

Going a step further, the WT claims that once the couple resumes sexual relations, there is no second thoughts....it's a done-deal of forgiveness. I faced that as an elder sitting in on these situations and never understood the reasoning behind that. Personally I felt that a man or woman who had a cheating mate might not realize how much they love (or hate) the guilty party until they do have sex again....intimacy might be the make-or-break facet of the marriage. I never found any scriptural reasoning behind this dogma either. I have regretted and wish I could go back and un-do all the stupidity I was part of being an 'elder' and on judicial committees. Hindsight is 20/20. -

Whether you do or not, it is certainly your choice....but HOW you do it can be your choice too. I have seriously thought about writing a letter to the editor if I were to choose such a course. The letter would be formatted in such a way as to also be something of concern to the community. Otherwise it is very unlikely it would be published. Then, anyone could read it and there would be no speculation about any other reason besides the real one for your having made this decision. And as a bonus, maybe (a big maybe admittedly), someone will read it and it may be the start of their exodus. Kill 2 birds with one stone perhaps. My2c. -

What did you become after leaving Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Garrett inhey guys,.
so, since my leaving i have been doing so much research on so many topics that it's been extremely enlightening.
not only have i learned a lot about the organization and what motivates it, but i have also learned a lot about the bible, god and most importantly, myself.. currently, i'm not quite sure where i stand, but i'm having some real issues with the bible and god.

My 2c: The Bible was intended for 1st century Christians to find their way to heaven....for us it is not much more than a read....maybe a good read for some, a waste of time for others. I believe in God, but find him to be apathetic to the world we live in and it's problems....otherwise he would solve them. See James 4:17."if you know how to do what is right, yet do not do it, it is a sin for you"....I am currently trying to figure how that scripture plays into Jehovah being a God of love.....
What to do? Be as happy and content as you possibly can where ever you are in your life right now.

They have been caught as liars either way they go now...
by Aussie Oz ini was talking to my daughter yesterday about the wt and the wwc case in victoria and i explained this to her..... for well over a hundred years the wt/ jws have been declaring the fds to be a real tangible person/s.
a body of christians, the remaining ones of the 144,000...etc etc.
(we all know the story).

Thank you 'tenyearsafter'.....I'm a bit of a newby to this whole situation, but am certainly glad to be aware of it before any major media picks up on it; should that happen, and I hope it does. I now anxiously await November 8th (?) in Victoria, Austrailia's judicial system. I pray now that honest-hearted ones --JW's or not-- become aware of this with an open mind. It amazes me that so many fail to differentiate between Jehovhs Witnesses and Jehovah God.

Mr. Oz....I'm assuming you are from Austrailia, and I'm curiuos if there has been much; or any, media coverage of this whole WWC violation by the WTB&TS. I'm hoping some international news service (ABC, NBC, CNN......maybe even Fox) will pick it up if the Nov. court date pushes it to the next step. If it has been in the newspapers there, I'd be interested in knowing the online site to read the story from that source, if possible.
You make a seriously true argument....one that each and every JW should be aware of and give consideration to. The Witness will, without doubt shriek "Theocratic warfare"; just the same as the nations cry "National Security" to justify their bloody deeds. Thanks.

I've just read the Spanish version of the July 15 "Mentally Diseased" WT article...
by Alfred inthis morning i decided to download the spanish july 15, 2011 watctower just to see what phrase was used in spanish for "mentally diseased".... i was disgusted to find that the phrase used in the spanish wt is "mentalmente enfermo"... now, this translation may appear to be correct, particularly if you used an english/spanish dictionary to translate from english to spanish.
however, if you ask any hispanic person (who speaks spanish & english fluently) to translate "mentalmente enfermo" into english, 99% of the time the translation will come back as "mentally sick"... that's right mentally sick (not mentally diseased).. now just imagine yourself reading this article for the first time and in place of seeing the phrase "mentally diseased" you actually see "mentally sick" instead?
how would you feel?

Interestingly, I f you go to the NW Interlinear Translation and read the original Greek and then the English translation as noted in the line under it (as noted on the left-hand side of the page), you will not find the phrase "mentally diseased".....but if you look into the column on the right of that page the offending phrase appears. (This is exactly what is shown in the NWT that the Witnesses insist is the best translation, and the only one they personally rely on). Looking further into other tranlations of the Bible I found that "mentally diseased" did not appear at all; phrases such as "argumentative", "enjoying debate", and such-like were used. Also, if you examine that same paragragh in the July 15th WT that brings the issue up, they admit to referring to other translations themselves; which raises the question :"Why?" -- if in fact the NWT is as faultless as they claim.
As an aside I would suggest that the translators of the NWT were the "mentally diseased".
